The roar of Formula 1 engines fades fast once the chequered flag drops but the infrastructure that supports the spectacle often sticks around longer than it should. Temporary flooring, built to withstand the weight and pace of hospitality on an international race weekend, usually doesn’t get a second chance.
This time, it did.
After a pop-up hotel installation at Silverstone Race Course wrapped up, Go For Productions looked at the flooring they had installed and didn’t see waste. They saw a resource for the local community. And they called Event Cycle.
They knew exactly where it could go.
Woodgreen Pets Charity supports thousands of animals each year, offering rehoming, care and expert advice to pet owners across the UK. But behind the scenes, the retail arm of the charity is growing just as fast. With 25 shops already open and plans to expand, Woodgreen is relocating its donation warehouse to a more prominent site to keep pace with demand.
There’s just one problem. A full warehouse fit-out, especially one that creates a positive working environment for staff and volunteers, is expensive. And when you’re a charity, every pound you spend on infrastructure is a pound that could have gone to frontline work.
That’s where the Silverstone flooring came in. Clean, sturdy, and in great condition, it was delivered straight to Woodgreen’s new warehouse and will soon be laid in the staff areas, eBay sales office and volunteer workspace. The space is set to open in November, and the flooring will help transform it into somewhere welcoming and practical without pulling funds away from the animals who need them.
From luxury pitstop to charity HQ, this donation gave high-performance materials a meaningful second life. It saved Woodgreen thousands, kept quality flooring out of the skip, and supported the expansion of a much-loved charity.
All from a few rolls of vinyl no longer needed on race day.
